Pinhole cameras are experimental mark making machines which can be used to create unique photographic images and teach students and people interested in photography all about rudimentary optics and how cameras work. This article is my personal and professional journey through the world of pinhole cameras!

I’ve always admired photography’s ability to capture moments in our past and how these captured moments form an intrinsic part of our memories and recollections of events and bygone places. Recently I revisited the town of my childhood and explored it through photography, recalling many long-forgotten places.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure and experience to use and own a range of different cameras, both film and digital. Here I explore some of my favourite cameras and the experiences I had with them.

Despite technology’s insatiable hold, black and white photography has a special place in my heart and is something which I keep coming back to over the years.
